I went for the new scanner sooner that I thought so I figured I'd post some before vs. I eventually went with the Epson Perfection V370. I honestly don't know if I could get even better scanner by throwing more money at the Canon Canoscan 9000f mark II or even the Epson Perfection V600 but I honestly doubt it. A scanner will never make a traditional artwork look 100% like the original so I felt like I should save some money on some other things as well.

Here are the pics: The first two pics were so blurred originally simply due to over-lighting and trying to deal with it with laminating sheets over the drawing. And even so you can see the destruction of softer shading on the middle picture. The new scans were taken without any stupid toying with laminating sheets and they STILL retain the gradients I worked so hard to achieve with colored pencil. Colors are also what they are supposed to be.
In the first picture the difference is almost laughable! My old scanner made absolutely no recognition between two different shades of blue nor did it give two shits about the beautiful violet colors I had mixed in with the purple. I've been researching this a lot since I will definitely buy a new one this year.

I've heard a lot of great things about the Epson Perfection V600 Photo. There are cheaper models that I've been looking at like Epson Perfection V550 Photo and Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II but I've been having a very hard time finding information on them regarding artwork scanning. Apparently the Epson Perfection V600 Photo is very popular among professional illustrators and animation bloggers. While the V600 will be over 50 euros more expensive than the cheaper models I'd rather be safe than sorry. My current scanner is a part of a multi-task machine Samsung M2070W and it's an insanely frustrating piece of machinery. Not only does the USB connection keep bugging out it also likes to annihilate certain colors like yellow and red/purple. Which leads to having to adjust Color Balance in Photoshop and that can turn a piece of artwork into digitized mess that looks 90% crappier than the original.
